PORTER GREY S/S 2011 PRESENTATION.

I could feel the excitement building up as I walked up to Lincoln Center for my very first New York Fashion Week and the Porter Grey presentation at the Box Studio couldn’t have been a better way to kick off my experience! Amidst a sea of black on black ensembles in the lobby, I was immediately pulled in to the fresh creams, corals, navys, and floral prints used in this collection.

With a cool soundtrack of 60s hits, Porter Grey perfectly combined a laid-back , free flowing feel with minimalist lines and structures, such as in their navy silk crepe midi dress. The designers , sisters Alexandra and Kristen O’Neill, said that they collection was directly inspired by their grandparents’ garden parties. What I loved was that the floral was not overwhelming and was balanced out with strong , solid collared blouses and bold skirts, like the beaded mini and my personal fave, the super bright geranium crepe wrap skort.

Not only  did I yearn for every blouse, dress and skirt in the collection, I was dying over all of the gorgeous oxfords, which are my go-to shoe of choice. Each outfit was paired with oxfords ranging from colors of light grey, baby yellow and amazing shades of green, all that would add a dainty touch to any outfit this Spring!
